【摘要】:Ironbacteriaisageneralclassificationformicroorganismsthatutilizeferrousironasasourceofenergyandarecharacterizedbythedepositionofferrichydroxideintheirmucilaginoussheaths.Theprocessiscontinuouswiththesegrowths,andoveraperiodoftimelargeaccumulationsofslimeybrowndepositscanoccur.Ironbacteriamayclogwaterlines,reduceheattransfer,andcausestaining;objectionableodorsmayarisefollowingdeathofthebacteria.Theorganicmatterinthewaterisconsequentlyincreased,andthisinturnfavorsthemultiplicationofotherbacteria.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofironbacteriabyexaminationunderthemicroscope.Themethodprovidesfortheidentificationofthefollowinggeneraofbacteriafoundinwaterandwater-formeddeposits:Siderocapsa,Gallionella(Dioymohelix),Sphaerotilus,Crenothrix,Leptothrix,andClonothrix.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
